Symi is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece known for its laid-back atmosphere, colourful houses, and unique architecture. As you approach this island, the colourful mansions will surely catch your eye. While here, be sure to visit the town of Molyvos which has a majestic old castle on a clifftop from where you get a fantastic view of the sea. Apart from this, there are ice cream stalls, bakeries, souvenir shops, and adorable cafes where you can spend some quality moments. The Orthodox and Catholic churches here feature fantastic artwork and architecture that is worth checking out.

The Sporades Islands, due east of Athens, are dominated by the giant Evia island, which is attached to the mainland by a bridge. Thickly forested and less touristed by international visitors, the Sporades are a popular and handy weekend getaway for Athenians. The island, deceptively beautiful with its mountains, numerous beaches, and dense vegetation, has managed to retain the rustic Greek vibe. The laid back atmosphere and the friendly welcome of the natives enhance the charm of the island. The island is best known for the huge number of sandy beaches and the national marine park. The air around here is scented with orange aromas and the atmosphere is quite calming.
Beautiful gardens filled with cypress trees and mythical statues lead to Mon Repos Palace and outstanding views across the sea. Tasting delicious food in Zante is another excellent thing to do on the island. There are plenty of traditional restaurants to try Greek salad or moussaka. After a great meal, visit the oldest monastery in Zakynthos – Anafonitria. When we didn’t go beach hopping, we spent time at the infamous Melissani lake, a famous cenote-style cave that requires a rowing boat to venture. Our favourite activity, though, was paragliding from the clifftops of Myrtos Beach.
